from INCEPTION. That movie is so good, I went to watch it again yesterday.(partly also because I missed the beginning when I watched it for the first time) Haven’t watched such a compelling and original movie in awhile.
I tried this quiz and got 3 out of the possible 20! That’s pretty funny considering I’m asian myself, and I should be able to tell these people apart. Speaking of that, Kyung and I played a game while we were in Cambodia, it was a game like the one above, except that we got to listen to the language they were speaking in order to differentiate them. That’s easier, I suppose, but nevertheless pretty fun as well.
Apparently my tumblr turned one on this date, and I missed it due to the 1238734598 emails clogging up my old hotmail address. About time I transferred all notifications to my @live email address, I suppose.
So, a little walk down memory lane, through a year’s history- When I first made this tumblr, its prime purpose was for me to post pictures with little captions- words which I wanted to say to you. This tumblr eventually became a little vent at which I could let out steam, simply because I left for boarding school, approximately a year ago. TUMBLR became my choice over BLOGGER because blogger was blocked by the school’s proxy, but tumblr was not well known enough to be blocked. So fast forward six months, and I MANAGED TO GET OUT OF BOARDING SCHOOL and now I’m back. I did promise ‘I’ll find a way to get back from this improbable hiatus, and drop you a line,’ and I did, so thank you if you’ve been following me from my old blog, and thank you if you’re still following after reading this long, nostalgic post. And thank you followers that started following me when I made this tumblr, thanks for putting up with me and I promise I shall post more pictures/music rather than long-ish digressing posts!
In one of the passages I was analysing for my English mock exam, there was one about this girl called Clara and her Higginbotham (lover). Well she thought he was quite dashing and was taken by his solid rocky features, but the novelty soon wore off when she found out that he was no more than empty shell (he dropped her to concentrate on maths, unforgivable sin.) I don’t know how to put this but I find that many things no longer hold my interest, I’m sitting in my room in front of the computer, the internet used to ensnare me for hours but these days I find myself itching to get out of the house to go explore. I blame it on summer- I want to go out and see the world, yet there are too many constraints: plane tickets(money) and company (everyone’s away).
My playlist is going stale and I need some company. Suggest some songs for those elusive (& lazy) summer days?
“I’m not going to change the way I look or the way I feel to conform to anything. I’ve always been a freak. So I’ve been a freak all my life and I have to live with that, you know. I’m one of those people.”—John Lennon (via artpixie)
then summer came and whispered into my ear, 'I am here.'
I came back from Cambodia yesterday, when I got home it felt as though I had been gone for a year. It was fun. The place was nothing like I expected. The food is great. The shopping is great. The people are smiley. The children at Sangkheum are the cutest things you’ll ever meet.
I taught English for six hours to four different classes, the largest class comprising of 36 kids. The age range was something like 6-12, some younger kids were even smarter than the older kids.
The best part was playing with the kids. There was a little boy called Jerry who took a liking to me and smeared his snot all over my leg, there was a little girl called Mary who I corresponded with, exchanging letters or gifts throughout my time at Sangkheum. It’s great fun. You should visit Sangkheum.
They have a little game called Zap-Bang. It’s like the game 007. You point a ‘gun’ at someone say ZAP, the person squats down, and the two people beside this person have a shoot-off. Whoever points the gun and yells BANG first wins, the other has to sit down. Eventually you have two people left who have a show-down. Back to back, count from 1 to 3, then BANG. The slower person loses.
We played football on a field with cows hanging around. Sangkheum has a team of their own that is top of the football league, and as expected, we lost (pretty) badly to them, with a score of 6-1. Even the girls and Sangkheum can play football, so do not underestimate them!
But today has been an absolute dream: summer has drifted in, and it seems things are looking up now. The only problem seems to be that I’ll be cooped up at home… not moaning about this, but this is probably my last real holiday before year 13, which will be FULL ON and my last holiday before UNI. (I think too far ahead) All the same it will be fun doing other things, reading without having to memorise what I’m reading, sleeping odd hours, sleeping in, going out… HAVE A GREAT SUMMER EVERYONE!
